Certan B402 (often typed as 4b02) is a highly effective biological larvicide used by beekeepers to protect stored honeycomb frames from wax moth damage. It contains Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), a naturally occurring bacterium that targets and kills young wax moth larvae without harming honeybees, humans, or leaving residues in wax and honey.
It is used after the honey harvest, when the frames are stored. It must be used before a wax moth infestation. It will kill young wax moth larvae. A single application will provide protection against wax moth right up through to the following season.
Applicators and mixers should wear long sleeve shirt, long pants, socks, shoe, protective eye wear and a NIOSH approved particle filtering respirator. Mix one part of B402 to 19 parts water (5% solution). Apply after frames have been extracted. Apply to both sides of frame, 1 ounce of fluid for deep frame, 2/3 ounce of fluid for medium frame and 1/2 ounce of fluid for shallow frame. Allow to dry before placing in storage. In warm conditions, once dry, supers should be protected from re-infestation by being wrapped or stored in an enclosed space.

Mixing & Application Guide
Dilution Ratio: Mix 1 part Certan B402 with 19 parts water to create a 5% solution.
Application: Spray the mixture evenly on both sides of extracted, dry frames before putting them in storage.
Drying: Allow frames to completely dry out before stacking to avoid mold.
Usage Window: Once diluted, the mixture should ideally be used within 24 to 72 hours.
Deep Frames: Treats roughly 100 frames.
Medium Frames: Treats roughly 150 frames.
Shallow Frames: Treats roughly 200 frames.
