Here is the SAME overwintering kit I use on all my langstroth hives and they WORK! If you still haven't prepared your hives for winter, it's not too late! Note that these are UNPAINTED, leaving you free to paint them whichever color you like. 

Contains:

1) Vivaldi board ... these are great winter feeders and ventilators. Combined with a moisture quilt (and assuring your mite count is under control) these make a HUGE difference by providing emergency food for your hive and a bit of ventilation. We also carry complete feed kits for these where the sugar is combine with the HiveAlive additive and comes prepackaged for immediate use. Or, you can make your own or add HiveAlive fondant. This allows you to easily monitor how much food your bees are consuming without being invasive by getting into the hive or letting their warmth out.

2) Moisture quilt ... this is designed to be filled with pine shavings (easily available from Tractor Supply or elsewhere) and prevents condensation from dripping down onto your bees. Perhaps the most important part of this overwintering trifecta!

3) Moisture board ... This is soundproofing material that absorbs and holds water. It catches most of the condensation before it ever hits your moisture quilt. If it gets soaked, it's easy to remove and dry out overnight. These last for many years with proper care.

To use: Place the Vivaldi board directly over your top box (super or deep), then add the moisture quilt and then the moisture board. Cover with your regular top. Available in 8-frame or 10-frame configurations!
